Iam not a big fan of sweets and so is my husband:-)
I had stocked up semolina for some reason(may be for rava upma)...saw the packs and thought..why not try making some sweet for a change?
I have never tried making anything other than payasam/kheer.So,i made this sweet and it came out pretty well(atleast in my terms) :-).
This is a common sweet in the Laddoo family.
I have just added strawberries and the outcome was delightful.
Ingredients:
3-4 tablespoon of Ghee
2 cups of Semolina(rawa)
8 Cashewnuts broken into small pieces pieces
1 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardomom powder
1/2 cup of grated coconut
3-4 strawberries(cut them into into small pieces)
Heat ghee in a skillet, fry the semolina on low heat and once it starts changing to golden colour add grated coconut, cardamom powder and cashewnuts.Mix well and fry for 2-3 more mins.
Now to make sugar syrup, cook sugar with half cup of water and stir till sugar dissolves.Increase heat and bring the syrup to a boil. Now add the syrup to the semolina mixture. Then, add the strawberry pieces and mix well.Remove it from fire and cover with a lid.
After 15 mins stir the mixture and allow it to cool.Divide mixture and shape them into laddoos.
